PESHAWAR — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced a Rs200 billion special development package for Hazara Division, outlining funding priorities for infrastructure, tourism and district-level projects.

The announcement was made during a meeting at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House with parliamentarians from Hazara, where discussions were held on shaping the province’s upcoming Annual Development Programme (ADP).

Focus on infrastructure and connectivity

Lawmakers from the region urged the federal government to dualize the Haripur–Mansehra GT Road, a project under the National Highway Authority (NHA). The chief minister said the provincial government would extend financial support for the road to improve connectivity and facilitate safer travel between Haripur and Mansehra.

He directed that Rs50 billion from the total package be allocated specifically for tourism-related projects, signaling a focus on strengthening Hazara’s tourism infrastructure and economic potential.

Administrative and ADP reforms

Afridi also announced that a notification would be issued to upgrade Allai into a separate district.

He said the next fiscal year’s ADP would be structured differently from previous years, with emphasis on large-scale projects, timely completion of ongoing schemes and initiatives delivering direct public benefit.

The chief minister instructed that PC-1 documents for proposed projects be prepared before finalizing the ADP and called for special attention to underdeveloped districts across the province.

The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and members of the National and Provincial Assemblies from Hazara Division.
