Raja Imran Shaheen, Deputy Commissioner Kotli, carried out a detailed inspection of the inner areas of Kotli to review traffic management, encroachments, and civic infrastructure as part of ongoing efforts to improve urban services.
The inspection was conducted alongside Superintendent of Police Kotli Adeel Ahmed Langrial, Mayor Municipal Corporation Chaudhry Muhammad Taj, Executive Engineer Highways Division Kotli Raja Sajjad Hussain, Assistant Commissioner Kotli Qaiser Aslam, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Chaudhry Rashid, Sub-Divisional Officer Highways Chaudhry Rasib, and other concerned officials.

During the visit, the deputy commissioner examined traffic congestion, illegal parking, and encroachments at key locations including Shaheed Chowk, Hafiz Aslam Road, Aabshar Chowk, Lorry Adda, and nearby areas. He directed strict enforcement of the Yellow Line to curb illegal parking and ensure smooth traffic flow, instructing authorities to take legal action against violators.
He also ordered the immediate closure of open manholes to prevent accidents and instructed departments to place concrete slabs over drains along eroded inner roads to widen the carriageways and improve accessibility.
Further directives included the removal of unnecessary handcarts, elimination of the rickshaw stand at Shaheed Chowk, and an indiscriminate crackdown on traffic and municipal violations. Relevant departments were also instructed to develop Roli Cross Chowk into a model intersection.
Special instructions were issued to the Kotli Development Authority for the immediate removal of garbage and silt from the drain along the road connecting KDA Road Bypass to Khawaja Bazaar to improve sanitation and drainage.
Addressing the officials, the deputy commissioner urged public cooperation, stating that practical measures were being taken to improve civic facilities, traffic discipline, and the city’s overall appearance. He appealed to citizens to follow the law, avoid illegal parking and encroachments, and support the administration’s efforts to make Kotli a clean, organized, and well-managed city.
