Islamabad : The Kohatians Association (KA) has successfully completed its first democratic election, held through an electronic voting system between 6 and 8 June 2026.
A total of 2,067 registered members were eligible to vote and 1,417 ballots were cast, representing a turnout of 68.6%.
The election allowed Kohatians from Pakistan and across the world to participate in the voting process irrespective of where they live. The results were independently verified and certified by the Election Commission.
The following candidates were elected:
President: Dr Viqar Ahmed Khan
Vice President: Maqbool Mohammad
General Secretary: Muhammad Humayun
Finance Secretary: Fiaz Akbar Jafri
The first meeting between the outgoing cabinet and the cabinet-elect took place on 14 June 2026 to discuss the handover of responsibilities and the transition to the newly elected leadership.
A spokesperson for the Association said:
“_For many Kohatians, this election was about giving members a direct voice in choosing their leadership. The turnout reflects the interest that exists across the community and the willingness of members to participate when given the opportunity._”
The Association thanked the Election Commission, candidates, chapter representatives, volunteers and members who contributed to the successful delivery of the election.
The spokesperson added:
“_The election process has now concluded and attention turns to the work ahead. There is a clear mandate from the membership and an opportunity to build on the engagement seen throughout the election period_.”
The Kohatians Association was established to bring together graduates of Cadet College Kohat, strengthen ties within the alumni community and support initiatives that benefit both Kohatians and the College.
