ISLAMABAD, August 7, 2026: Karandaaz Pakistan has partnered with Kissan Gudam, a venture of the Hajisons Group, to expand digital financing and modern crop storage solutions for smallholder farmers, aiming to improve access to formal credit, reduce post-harvest losses and strengthen Pakistan’s agricultural value chain.

The collaboration combines climate-resilient storage infrastructure, digital financial services and direct market access through a single platform. The initiative will allow farmers to store crops closer to their communities, secure financing against stored produce through Electronic Warehouse Receipt (EWR)-based lending, and improve returns by reducing losses and accessing better market opportunities.

Digital Platform to Support Farmers

Kissan Gudam integrates hermetic storage technology developed by US-based GrainPro with digital trading and agricultural financing.

Unlike conventional warehouses, GrainPro’s portable hermetic cocoons can be installed near farming communities, helping farmers reduce transportation costs while preserving crop quality and quantity. The stored produce can then be verified digitally and used as collateral to obtain financing.

Karandaaz said the partnership would help scale this post-harvest ecosystem across rural Pakistan, improving financial inclusion and supporting more sustainable agricultural growth.

Focus on Financial Inclusion and Market Access

Karandaaz Pakistan Chief Executive Officer Waqas ul Hasan said Pakistan’s agricultural sector requires not only access to finance but also infrastructure and market linkages that enable financing to deliver long-term benefits.

He said the partnership supports a model that allows farmers to store crops closer to their farms, improve returns on agricultural produce and strengthen food security while creating conditions for a more efficient commodity market.

Kissan Gudam Chief Executive Officer Farhan Tahir said the initiative is designed to help farmers preserve the value of their produce, gain access to formal credit and connect with improved market opportunities.

He added that the partnership aims to strengthen financial security, climate-resilient storage and sustainable livelihoods across rural communities.

Warehouse Receipt Financing

Kissan Gudam Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Anam Tahir said the platform links a digital wallet directly with warehouse infrastructure, allowing stored crops to be digitally verified and used as collateral.

According to the company, this enables collateral-backed financing to be processed within minutes instead of the weeks often required under traditional lending systems.

The signing ceremony was attended by Tom A. Peter, Economic Officer at the US Embassy in Islamabad, who described the initiative as an example of US-Pakistan cooperation in agriculture through the use of GrainPro’s storage technology to support smallholder farmers and strengthen Pakistan’s formal agricultural economy.
