Karachi: Jinnah Hospital Opens Modern Drug Rehabilitation Center

A modern Opioid Agonist Maintenance Therapy (OAMT) Center has been inaugurated at Jinnah Hospital Karachi to provide comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation services for people struggling with drug addiction.

Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho inaugurated the facility, saying the center aims to help patients gradually overcome addiction and successfully reintegrate into society.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Pechuho said the center will offer medical treatment, continuous clinical monitoring, psychological counseling, and rehabilitation services under one roof to ensure long-term recovery for patients.

She added that the facility is staffed by specialist doctors and trained healthcare professionals who will closely monitor patients throughout their treatment process.

The Health Minister also emphasized the importance of accelerating HIV screening efforts to identify more cases at an early stage and ensure timely treatment.

Commenting on a recent patient death at Jinnah Hospital, Dr. Pechuho said every loss of life is tragic and stressed that if negligence played a role, a transparent and impartial inquiry must be conducted to determine responsibility.

She further stated that treating the death of any patient as insignificant is unacceptable and strongly condemned any remarks that undermine the seriousness of such incidents.
