A judicial magistrate in Karachi has disposed of an application filed by inmate Anmol, also known as Pinky, regarding the provision of facilities in prison after jail authorities informed the court that medical treatment and standard clothing were being provided in accordance with prison rules.
The matter was heard before the Judicial Magistrate (South) during proceedings in a murder case involving the accused. The application alleged that the inmate was not being provided with adequate facilities while in custody.
Jail Authorities Explain Prison Policy
During the hearing, the court asked prison officials why the inmate was allegedly not being provided with medicines and clothing.
The superintendent of the women’s jail told the court that there was no restriction on providing clothing but said prison authorities could not permit attire considered inappropriate under jail regulations. Officials added that the inmate was allowed to receive and wear regular clothing in line with prison rules.
Medical Treatment Being Provided
A women’s prison official informed the court that the inmate was receiving medical treatment at Civil Hospital Karachi and that medicines prescribed by hospital doctors were being provided.
After hearing the response from the prison authorities, the Judicial Magistrate (South) disposed of the application seeking additional jail facilities.
