HEBRON, October 25, 2026: Israeli forces have reportedly seized Palestinian homes in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, forcing families to leave and converting residential properties into military positions and surveillance posts amid an intensified security operation.
According to the Palestinian official news agency WAFA, Israeli troops entered several residential areas, ordered families to evacuate their homes and subsequently used the buildings as military barracks and observation points.
The reported operations took place in the Khallat Manaa and Dahiyat Al-Zaytoun neighbourhoods, where soldiers occupied houses considered strategically positioned for monitoring surrounding areas.
Some properties were reportedly converted into temporary military accommodation, while others were used as surveillance posts overlooking nearby streets and residential neighbourhoods.
Israeli military expands operations in Hebron
The reported seizures are part of a broader Israeli military operation launched in Hebron following a shooting incident at a checkpoint on Friday.
According to Israeli authorities, two Israeli soldiers were killed and three others injured in the attack.
The Israeli military said the operation was intended to locate suspected armed individuals, recover weapons and dismantle alleged militant infrastructure in the area.
However, Palestinian officials and local residents have raised concerns about the impact of the operation on civilian communities, particularly families forced to abandon their homes.
Thousands of Palestinians face displacement
The military operation has reportedly resulted in significant displacement across affected neighbourhoods.
According to figures attributed to Reuters in the reports, approximately 1,200 Palestinians have already been displaced, while another 1,300 could face evacuation as operations continue.
Palestinian authorities have condemned the reported seizure of civilian homes, describing the measures as collective punishment and forced displacement.
They have called on the international community to intervene and protect Palestinian civilians affected by the military operations.
The Israeli government, meanwhile, maintains that its actions are security measures targeting armed individuals and infrastructure allegedly linked to attacks against Israeli forces.
The developments have heightened concerns over civilian safety and displacement in the occupied West Bank, where military operations and restrictions continue to affect Palestinian communities.
