Washington: Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro can be picked up for effectively no device cost under a new US promotion, but customers will need to meet several conditions — including staying on an eligible mobile plan for three years.
US wireless carrier T-Mobile has introduced the offer for customers who subscribe to its qualifying Experience Beyond plan.
Under the promotion, eligible customers can receive the full promotional value of an iPhone 18 Pro through 36 monthly bill credits rather than getting the entire discount upfront.
How to get the iPhone 18 Pro for free
New customers can qualify by switching an eligible mobile number to T-Mobile and meeting the promotion’s plan and activation requirements.
Existing customers may also qualify by trading in an eligible smartphone, subject to the carrier’s promotional terms and the condition of the device.
The key detail, however, is how the “free” offer actually works.
Instead of simply handing customers a free phone, T-Mobile applies promotional credits to their monthly bills over 36 months. Customers therefore need to maintain the qualifying service to receive the full value of the promotion.
Leaving the eligible plan or cancelling the line before the promotional period ends could mean losing the remaining bill credits, potentially leaving the customer responsible for an outstanding device balance.
The phone isn’t completely cost-free
Customers should also be aware of upfront charges.
Applicable local sales tax on the phone’s full retail price must be paid upfront. A $35 device connection charge also applies to each line.
That means the promotion can effectively cover the eligible iPhone 18 Pro’s device cost through bill credits, but it does not eliminate every expense associated with getting the phone.
The offer is currently available to eligible customers in the United States, and no availability under the same promotion has been announced for other countries.
Customers considering the deal should check their plan, trade-in eligibility and the full promotional terms before switching or upgrading, particularly because receiving the maximum discount requires remaining eligible throughout the 36-month credit period.
