NEW YORK: Apple has confirmed a software bug affecting some newly launched iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max users and said it is working on a fix.
The issue reportedly appears when an attempt to unlock the device using Face ID fails. In affected cases, the iPhone may freeze for several seconds and stop responding to touch input before automatically shutting down and restarting.
The problem emerged shortly after the official sales of the new models began, prompting complaints from some users.
Apple has said the issue will be addressed through an upcoming iOS 27 software update. The company has not yet provided details about the underlying cause of the Face ID-related problem.
According to the report, the bug is not affecting all iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max users. Apple is continuing to work on the software solution, which is expected to prevent affected devices from freezing and unexpectedly restarting after the update is released.
