ISLAMABAD, October 29, 2026: Instagram is testing a new long-form video format that will allow selected content creators to upload horizontal videos lasting up to 90 minutes, potentially expanding the platform’s appeal to podcasters, interviewers and other creators producing longer content.

The experimental format, reportedly called **Features**, is designed to accommodate videos that are difficult to present through Instagram’s existing short-form Reels format.

According to Social Media Today, Instagram is currently testing the feature with a limited number of creators in the United States, following an earlier trial in Brazil.

The new format is expected to support podcasts, interviews, comedy programmes and other extended video content, giving creators more flexibility to engage with their audiences.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri and Vice President of Product Tessa Lyons announced the initiative in a video discussing changing trends in how people create and consume content on the platform.

Mosseri said Instagram was investing in longer videos as part of its efforts to provide creators with more options for sharing content.

The new Features format is expected to complement the platform’s existing video offerings, including Reels, Series, Live and TV.

Instagram seeks to expand long-form video content

The move signals Instagram’s growing interest in content formats traditionally associated with long-form video platforms.

While Instagram has established a strong presence in short-form video through Reels, the proposed format could allow creators to publish complete interviews, podcasts and entertainment programmes without dividing them into multiple shorter clips.

Mosseri said the initiative remains in its early stages, with Instagram planning to collect feedback from creators and viewers during testing.

The company aims to provide content creators with additional time and flexibility to share more detailed material with their established communities.

However, Instagram has not announced a timetable for making the 90-minute video feature available to all users.

It also remains unclear when the format could become accessible to creators in Pakistan.

Further details about the feature’s availability and possible wider rollout are expected after the initial testing phase.
