inDrive Introduces Trip Audio Recording Feature to Boost Rider Safety in Pakistan

KARACHI: Ride-hailing platform inDrive has introduced a new Trip Audio Recording feature across Pakistan, allowing passengers and drivers to record audio during rides to support safety and improve the resolution of disputes.

The feature can be activated manually through the app’s Safety Center and is designed to provide verified audio evidence when investigating incidents. According to the company, the rollout is part of its broader effort to enhance transparency and safety for both riders and drivers.

Audio Recording Activated Only by Users

inDrive said the Trip Audio Recording feature can only be turned on when a passenger or driver chooses to activate it during a trip.

The company emphasized that the app cannot record conversations without user action, nor can it capture audio in the background. This approach is intended to protect user privacy while offering an additional safety tool when needed.

Encrypted Recordings for Privacy

According to inDrive, all audio recordings are encrypted immediately after they are created.

The company said the files cannot be played back, downloaded, or shared by passengers, drivers, or third parties. The recordings are intended solely to assist inDrive’s safety team in reviewing reported incidents and resolving disputes based on verified information.

Company Says Feature Improves Transparency

Commenting on the launch, Awais Saeed, Country Manager for inDrive Pakistan, said the feature gives both passengers and drivers greater confidence during trips.

“By putting the Trip Audio Recording tool directly into the hands of our passengers and drivers, we are removing the guesswork from dispute resolution. Sometimes, simply knowing that an objective, secure record can be created makes every single journey feel a little safer for everyone in the car.”

The company said the feature is expected to strengthen trust between riders and drivers while supporting fair and evidence-based investigations when safety concerns arise.
