A 40-year-old psychologist, Dr. Haimika Agrawal, has died after an alleged suicide in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, according to Indian media reports.
According to The Times of India, Dr. Agrawal reportedly fell from the roof of her residential building and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that Dr. Agrawal had been struggling with depression and emotional distress following her divorce approximately 18 months ago. She was reportedly living alone in her apartment in Ghaziabad.
Police have inspected the scene, collected evidence, and stated that no suicide note has been officially confirmed so far.
Dr. Agrawal’s father, Dr. R. Chandra, who is also a psychiatrist, confirmed that his daughter’s divorce had taken place around 18 months ago and said her mental health had been affected since then.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that officers are examining all possible aspects of the case before reaching a final conclusion regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.
Mental health experts note that depression is a treatable medical condition and encourage anyone experiencing persistent emotional distress to seek support from qualified healthcare professionals, trusted family members, or friends.
