ISLAMABAD: The Indian volleyball team has expressed interest in participating in the upcoming Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Championship to be held in Islamabad next month, while formally seeking security clearance and guarantees from Pakistan.
According to details, the Indian Volleyball Federation has contacted the Pakistan Volleyball Federation and requested official government security clearance to facilitate visa approval and ensure participation in the international event.
Formal request for security clearance
Pakistan Volleyball Federation Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob confirmed that the Indian federation has made a formal request for security assurances, which is required for obtaining government approval and travel documentation.
He said that the Indian side has shown strong interest in participating in the championship and relevant government institutions have already been informed about the request.
Tournament to feature 10 nations
The CAVA International Volleyball Championship is scheduled to take place in Islamabad from July 22 to July 29, featuring teams from Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Maldives, and Sri Lanka.
Officials said that India’s participation would significantly increase the profile of the tournament and attract greater fan interest.
