Many areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, are currently experiencing an unusually harsh winter, leading to a rise in stroke cases among those affected by the cold.
The extreme cold in various parts of the province has not only disrupted daily life but has also resulted in serious health issues, particularly for the elderly.
Administrators at the three major hospitals in Peshawar report that the number of stroke and related health cases being admitted during this severe cold is 30-40% higher than on typical cold days.
Medical experts explain that the intense cold causes blood vessels to constrict, which increases blood pressure and raises the risk of strokes.
Health professionals also note that people who get up late at night in the cold are often careless, making them more susceptible to dangerous conditions like strokes.
