ISLAMABAD, October 29, 2026: HBL Microfinance Bank Limited (HBL MfB) has launched its Islamic Banking operations, marking a significant step in its efforts to expand financial inclusion across Pakistan.
The launch was marked by the inauguration of the bank’s first Islamic Banking branch in Timergara, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following the grant of an Islamic Banking licence by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
Through its Islamic Banking services, the bank aims to provide Shariah-compliant financial solutions to individuals, micro-entrepreneurs, farmers and communities seeking banking services aligned with Islamic principles.
Bank Aims to Expand Financial Inclusion
Commenting on the launch, HBL Microfinance Bank President and CEO Amir Khan described the opening of the Timergara branch as an important milestone in the bank’s efforts to make financial services more accessible and inclusive.
He said the initiative would help bring banking services closer to communities, particularly those that need greater access to financial support, while enabling customers to pursue their economic goals with confidence.
Expanding Access to Shariah-Compliant Banking
Established in 2002, HBL Microfinance Bank has developed a nationwide presence, serving millions of customers and supporting underserved communities across Pakistan.
The introduction of Islamic Banking is an extension of the bank’s existing mandate to provide customers with a wider range of financial solutions designed around Shariah principles.
The bank said it would continue supporting individuals and communities through financial services aimed at promoting economic growth and progress.
Further Expansion Planned
HBL Microfinance Bank intends to expand its Islamic Banking operations in the coming period, building on the launch of its first branch in Timergara.
The initiative is expected to provide customers who prefer Shariah-compliant banking with additional options for accessing financial services.
