Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan produced a match-winning performance against England, but a crucial review almost did not happen because neither Shadab nor Haris Rauf initially realised that the ball had brushed the bat.

Shadab scored an unbeaten 113 off 96 balls while batting at No. 8 and shared a record 89-run partnership with Haris Rauf for the 10th wicket to help Pakistan secure a dramatic one-wicket victory.

With Pakistan needing 21 runs to win, Shadab was given out leg before wicket off Gus Atkinson’s yorker. The decision was reviewed, and UltraEdge showed a faint contact with the bat, overturning the on-field decision and keeping Shadab at the crease.

Interestingly, Shadab and Haris, who was at the non-striker’s end, had not realised that the ball had made contact with the bat. They had begun walking back after shaking hands with the England players when Haris advised Shadab to take the review.

The review proved to be a decisive moment in the match, allowing Shadab to continue his innings and guide Pakistan to victory.

Haris also played a crucial role in the record partnership, remaining unbeaten on seven from 19 balls. He supported Shadab by protecting his wicket as Pakistan chased down the target.
