RAWALPINDI: Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has dismissed suggestions that he has ever asked to bowl specifically at the beginning or end of an innings, saying he enjoys bowling alongside Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Speaking about Pakistan’s recent performances, Rauf said the team had played well in the tri-nation series, with Shaheen and Naseem Shah returning to the bowling attack.
He said the bowling unit’s focus was on taking wickets, while acknowledging that openers Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub had not been able to make significant contributions in two matches. He added that Pakistan’s middle order had performed well.
Rauf stressed that Pakistan would need to score more runs and restrict opponents more effectively in ICC events. He also noted that the change of ball after 34 overs can have an impact on the bowling side.
Rauf Praises Conditions for Fast Bowlers
Commenting on the Lahore pitch, Rauf said it appeared fresh and could offer support to bowlers. He added that bowlers around the world are currently conceding runs, regardless of where they play.
The fast bowler also said he remains available for Test cricket and dismissed the idea that he alone has been targeted by batters.
“Sixes are not only hit off me; bowlers around the world are being hit,” Rauf said.
