4 Google Search Tricks to Shop Smarter Online

4 Min Read

ISLAMABAD, August 10, 2026: Google has highlighted four ways shoppers can use Search, AI Mode and Google Lens to compare products, find fashion items and research purchases as online shopping and major sale events continue to attract consumers.

The tools are designed to help users narrow down products, compare prices and identify items they come across online or in the real world, reducing the need to browse multiple websites separately.

Google’s AI-powered shopping features increasingly combine Search with product information such as prices, reviews, availability and retailer listings, allowing users to carry out more detailed shopping research from a single query.

Use AI Mode for Detailed Shopping Searches

Google says shoppers can use AI Mode in Search to ask detailed, conversational questions about products rather than running several separate searches.

For example, a user looking for a particular fashion item can specify the style, location, delivery requirements and preferred type of retailer within the same query.

AI Mode can then surface relevant information and links to help users compare available options.

Google has been expanding AI Mode with more advanced reasoning and multimodal capabilities, including shopping features designed to help users explore and narrow down products.

Compare Products and Prices With Google Lens

Google Lens allows shoppers to search for products using an image rather than typing the product name.

Users can take a photograph or upload a screenshot of clothing, footwear or another item and use Lens to find visually similar products and links to online retailers.

Google says Lens can return shoppable visual matches, helping users identify similar items and compare available purchasing options.

This can be particularly useful during sale periods when consumers want to determine whether a product is available from another seller or at a different price.

On supported Android phones, Circle to Search lets users search for an item appearing on their screen without switching apps.

A shopper can circle, highlight, scribble over or tap an item displayed in a social media post, video or webpage and receive related Google Search results.

Users can also refine the search with additional text to look for similar styles or alternative products.

Google currently lists Circle to Search as a feature available on selected Android devices.

iPhone users can instead access visual product search through Google Lens in the Google app.

Research Quality Before Buying

Google is also encouraging shoppers to look beyond discounts and consider the durability, materials and production practices behind products.

Search and Lens can be used to research fabric composition, brands, product reviews and sustainability-related information before making a purchase.

For fashion shoppers, this could include checking whether clothing uses particular materials, researching a brand’s manufacturing practices or comparing similar products designed for longer-term use.

The approach reflects a broader shift in online shopping tools from simply finding products towards helping consumers research prices, specifications and purchasing options before deciding what to buy.

Google’s Shopping Graph, which powers many of its shopping experiences, brings together product information including pricing, availability, reviews and retailer data to support product discovery and comparison.

With visual search and AI increasingly integrated into Google Search, consumers can now move from discovering an item to researching and comparing it using a photograph, screenshot or conversational search query.
