Gold, silver prices decline for second straight day in Pakistan, global markets

KARACHI: Gold and silver prices extended their decline for a second consecutive day in both Pakistan and international markets, reflecting continued softening in global precious metal trends.

According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24-karat gold per tola fell by Rs1,000 to Rs500,162, while 10 grams dropped by Rs857 to Rs428,808. Despite the decline, gold remains above the Rs500,000 per tola level.

Silver prices also eased, with the per tola rate decreasing by Rs59 to Rs8,358.

In global markets, gold prices slipped by $10 per ounce to $4,778, continuing a downward trend seen in recent sessions.

A day earlier, gold had recorded a sharper drop in Pakistan, falling by Rs4,900 per tola to Rs501,162, while 10 grams declined by Rs4,201 to Rs429,665. Silver prices also fell by Rs145 per tola to Rs8,417 during the previous session.

Internationally, gold prices had declined by $49 per ounce to $4,788 in the earlier session.

Market observers say the back-to-back decline highlights shifting global demand and investor sentiment, with local bullion rates closely aligned with international price movements.
