Rawalpindi: The General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi commemorated the 99th founding anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of the People’s Republic of China with a ceremony attended by senior Pakistani and Chinese military officials.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong attended the event as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony was also attended by Major General Wang Zhong, Defence Attaché of China, officials of the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers from Pakistan’s tri-services.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, welcomed the distinguished guests and congratulated the PLA on its 99th anniversary. He paid tribute to the PLA’s contributions to China’s defence, national development, and international peace and security.

Highlighting the longstanding ties between Pakistan and China, Field Marshal Asim Munir described the bilateral friendship as unique, time-tested, and resilient in the face of regional and global challenges. He said the Pakistan Armed Forces and the PLA remain trusted partners, united by mutual trust, unwavering support, and a shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and the protection of common strategic interests.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked the Pakistan Army Chief for hosting the commemorative event and acknowledged the Pakistan Armed Forces’ contributions and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He also reaffirmed China’s unwavering support for Pakistan and its commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries.
The ceremony reflected the close defence cooperation and enduring strategic relationship between Pakistan and China.
