ISLAMABAD, October 24, 2026: Chinese automaker Geely is preparing to introduce its brand in Pakistan, with three vehicles expected to feature at its Islamabad launch event, including two fully electric models and a range-extended electric SUV.

The anticipated lineup includes the Geely EX2 electric hatchback, EX5 electric SUV and Starray, although the company has yet to officially confirm which models will be displayed or introduced for the Pakistani market.

The expected vehicles were previously identified when Bestway Group announced its partnership with Geely in July 2026, outlining plans to bring the Chinese automaker’s vehicles to Pakistan.

While the EX2 and EX5 are fully electric, uncertainty remains over which powertrain version of the Starray will be offered locally.

Earlier expectations pointed towards the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid, but the newer Starray EM-R range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) has emerged as another possibility.

The Geely EX2 is a subcompact electric hatchback that could compete with the Dongfeng Box, MG Binguo and Chery QQ3 in Pakistan’s growing electric vehicle segment.

Introduced in China in 2024, the EX2 has since entered several international markets, including Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Europe and Latin America.

The top-specification Thai-market variant features a rear-wheel-drive electric motor producing 114 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque.

It uses a 39.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a WLTP-rated driving range of approximately 325 kilometres.

The vehicle supports DC fast charging in approximately 25 minutes, while AC charging takes around 6.5 hours.

Safety equipment in the Thai variant includes six airbags, 12 parking sensors and 11 advanced driver assistance features.

Geely EX5 expected to compete in electric SUV segment

The Geely EX5 is a compact electric SUV that could enter competition with models such as the BYD Atto 3, Jaecoo J6, Kia EV5 and Deepal S07.

The vehicle was introduced internationally in 2024 and is already available in several markets.

Its top-specification Thai-market version comes with a front-wheel-drive electric motor producing 215 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque.

The EX5 is equipped with a 68.39 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, providing a WLTP-rated range of approximately 450 kilometres.

DC fast charging takes approximately 20 minutes, while AC charging requires around 6.5 hours.

The SUV also offers six airbags, 12 parking sensors and 14 advanced driver assistance features, depending on the market and variant.

The third potential model is the Geely Starray, with the EM-R range-extended electric variant now being considered a possible candidate for Pakistan.

Unlike a conventional plug-in hybrid, the Starray EM-R uses its petrol engine to generate electricity and charge the battery, while the electric motor drives the wheels.

The model made its debut in Thailand on August 13, 2026.

If introduced in Pakistan, it would mark the vehicle’s entry into another market beyond Thailand.

The Thai-market Starray EM-R features a 1.5-litre petrol engine rated at 98 horsepower, paired with an electric motor producing 215 horsepower and 262 Nm of torque.

Its 18.4 kWh battery provides an estimated electric-only range of 89 kilometres under WLTP testing, while the combined driving range is approximately 1,000 kilometres.

The vehicle supports DC fast charging in around 20 minutes and offers 15 advanced driver assistance features in its top-specification version.

However, Geely has not confirmed whether Pakistan will receive the EM-R range-extended version or the EM-i plug-in hybrid.

Official Pakistan lineup awaits confirmation

Geely’s entry through its partnership with Bestway Group could introduce additional choices for Pakistani consumers considering electric and electrified vehicles.

However, the three models remain prospective candidates rather than confirmed local launches.

Their final specifications, pricing, availability and launch schedules will depend on announcements from Geely and its Pakistani partner.

The Islamabad brand launch is expected to clarify which vehicles the company intends to bring to the local market.
