MULTAN: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration has foiled an alleged attempt to travel to Europe illegally under the cover of a student visa at Multan International Airport.
According to an FIA spokesperson, a passenger identified as Muhammad Bilal was preparing to travel via Dubai on an Azerbaijan student visa aboard a Flydubai flight.
During immigration clearance, the passenger reportedly failed to provide satisfactory answers to officials’ questions, prompting them to examine his mobile phone.
The FIA said the phone contained evidence relating to arrangements for obtaining a Greek visa and suspected travel arrangements.
According to the spokesperson, the passenger had allegedly planned to travel from Azerbaijan to Greece using suspicious documents. Investigators also reportedly found evidence of communications concerning payments of Rs5 million to Rs7 million for arranging a Greek visa and alleged assistance with immigration clearance.
The passenger has been transferred to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Multan for further questioning.
The agency said further investigations into the incident are underway.
