The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has announced the 2026 annual examination results for Classes 9 and 10, with Afira Ejaz securing the overall top position after obtaining 1,089 marks.
A total of 292,831 students appeared in the Secondary School Certificate examinations this year. Federal Education Minister Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui formally announced the results during a ceremony in Islamabad. The FBISE has also activated its official result portal for students.
According to the results, Amina Nauman secured second position with 1,088 marks, while Huzaifa Haider stood third with 1,086 marks.
Class 9 Pass Rate Stands at 59.77%
The FBISE chairman said 150,077 candidates were registered for the SSC Part-I examination. Of them, 88,646 passed, resulting in an overall success rate of 59.77%.
For SSC Part-II, 141,653 candidates were registered and 128,070 were declared successful. The overall pass percentage for Class 10 stood at 91.33%.
The board established 1,006 examination centres and deployed 2,012 supervisory staff members and 6,996 invigilators. A total of 4,855 examiners were engaged to assess answer sheets, while 10,706 teachers had applied for marking duties.
AI Used in Paper Marking for First Time
The board said artificial intelligence was used to assist the marking process for the first time. Officials did not provide detailed information about the scope of the technology or the specific stages of evaluation in which it was applied.
Authorities also reported 86 cases involving the alleged use of unfair means during the examinations.
Speaking at the result ceremony, Siddiqui congratulated successful students, their parents and teachers. He said educational institutions must adapt to changing global requirements and provide students with a more supportive learning environment.
The minister also highlighted the performance of female students, saying girls secured seven of the top 10 positions this year. He called for the Federal Board to be developed as a model examination body for other regions of Pakistan.
