Lahore: President Dr. Arif Alvi emphasized the need to take quick decisions to set the country on the path of progress and prosperity. He said that slow decision-making was hampering the process of national development. He expressed these views while speaking at the recognition ceremony of Federal Insurance Ombudsman (FIO) secretariat officials, CEOs and CEOs of insurance companies organized by the Federal Insurance Ombudsman at the Governor House.
The President said that ombudsman institutions have played a commendable role in providing speedy and free justice to aggrieved complainants against administrative injustices by government organizations. He congratulated the FIO for the excellent performance by providing monetary relief of over Rs. 5 billion to injured policyholders.
The President also noted that Pakistan has a huge potential for growth, but it requires honesty and quick decision-making to put it on the right track. He emphasized that honesty must be the cornerstone with a key focus on integrity and fair play. He stated that the country’s institutions are bound to do justice. The President added that he was a firm believer in meritocracy and said he had never asked for any favors for anyone during his tenure as President. He expressed hope that Pakistan will turn around as it is blessed with huge potential and talented youth.
The Federal Ombudsman for the Insurance Industry, Dr. Muhammad Khawar Jameel, highlighted the role of the FIO in ensuring justice to policyholders against malpractice.

Later, a delegation of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry also called on the President and discussed the country’s economic situation and issues related to mental health, breast cancer and women empowerment. He urged the business community to take steps for the economic empowerment of women, enabling them to actively participate in economic activities.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said the country was facing various challenges such as stunting, malnutrition and 26.2 million out of school children. He said these challenges need to be addressed on a priority basis.
Speaking on mental health, the President said that every home should have a tool to maintain overall mental health and well-being so that such health issues in families can be addressed early.
Members of the delegation appreciated the efforts of the President and the First Lady to empower women and raise awareness about breast cancer and other social and health issues.
