Police investigating the killing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Abdullah Tahir say the motorcycle allegedly used by the attackers carried a fake registration number, complicating efforts to identify the suspects.
According to police sources, investigators have so far been unable to establish the identities of the shooters. Authorities are reviewing footage from Safe City and private surveillance cameras while continuing the investigation.
Motorcycle Registration Found to Be Fake
Police sources said a search of the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department records found no registration matching the motorcycle’s number plate, indicating that the suspects were using a fake plate during the attack.
Officials said the fake registration has made it more difficult to trace the assailants.
CCTV Footage Under Review
Investigators are examining footage from Safe City cameras and nearby private CCTV systems to identify and track the suspects’ movements before and after the incident.
Police sources said several individuals have been taken into custody for questioning as part of the investigation.
Five Suspects Named in the Case
According to DIG Investigation Lahore Syed Zeeshan Raza, five individuals have been nominated in the case.
He said those detained are being interrogated and expressed confidence that investigators would soon reach the principal suspects.
The investigation remains ongoing.
