Three countries announce their withdrawal from the international song contest following confirmation that Israel will take part.

Iceland, Ireland and the Netherlands have announced a boycott of Eurovision 2027 over Israel’s participation in the annual international music competition, according to a report by HUM News citing Reuters.

The contest is scheduled to take place in May 2027 in Burgas, Bulgaria. The report says 36 countries are expected to participate, with Canada set to make its debut.

Dispute Over Israel’s Participation

Israel’s public broadcaster, Kan (KAN), has confirmed the country’s participation in Eurovision 2027.

Following the announcement, Iceland, Ireland and the Netherlands declared that they would withdraw from the competition in protest against Israel’s inclusion.

According to the report, the three countries are maintaining their opposition for a second consecutive year.

Eurovision’s International Reach

Eurovision has been held annually since 1956 and is one of the world’s best-known international music competitions.

The withdrawals add to the controversy surrounding Israel’s participation in the event. With the 2027 contest scheduled for May, the developments could affect the competition’s participating lineup.

The final list of participating countries and further details about the event remain subject to official announcements.
