MUMBAI: Bollywood actors Emraan Hashmi and Genelia D’Souza’s new romantic song Afsaana Banaaya Aapne has attracted attention shortly after its release.
The song is part of the upcoming action-romance film Gunmaaster G9, which brings Emraan Hashmi back together with composer-singer Himesh Reshammiya and director Aditya Datt, the team behind the 2005 film Aashiq Banaya Aapne.
Emraan and Himesh’s reunion has sparked nostalgia among fans, although Emraan has stressed that the new song is not intended to recreate their earlier work.
Written and composed by Himesh Reshammiya and performed by Himesh and Asees Kaur, Afsaana Banaaya Aapne plays an important role in the film’s romantic storyline.
A short portion of the song was previously featured at the end of the film’s teaser, generating curiosity among fans ahead of the full release. The track also marks Genelia D’Souza’s first collaboration with Emraan Hashmi.
Genelia said working with Emraan was a new experience for her and described the combination of Emraan and Himesh’s music as a fitting opportunity for the project.
Director Aditya Datt revealed that the team spent more than eight months working on the film’s music. The soundtrack was developed through extensive jamming sessions, writing and creative collaborations.
Datt also credited producer Deepak Mukut with bringing the various artists together for the project.
Gunmaaster G9 also stars Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Singh in key roles. The film is produced by Deepak Mukut, Hunar Mukut and Sangeeta Ahir and directed by Aditya Datt.
The action-romance film is scheduled to release worldwide in cinemas on November 27, 2026.
