Easy Ways to Prevent Dry Skin in Winter

Share f X WA in

As winter approaches, dry and rough skin, chapped lips and irritation become common problems.

According to health experts, cold winds and low humidity can strip the skin of its natural moisture, causing itching, irritation and a feeling of tightness.

A few simple changes to your daily skincare routine can help protect the skin during the colder months.

1. Use Lukewarm Water

Avoid washing your face with very hot water, as it can remove the skin’s natural oils. Use lukewarm water along with a gentle face wash instead.

2. Apply Moisturiser Regularly

Apply a suitable moisturiser immediately after washing your face to help lock in moisture and prevent dryness.

3. Don’t Skip Sunscreen

Sun protection remains important during winter. Use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 during the day to protect the skin from harmful UV rays.

4. Avoid Excessive Scrubbing

Frequent or harsh exfoliation can damage the skin’s protective barrier, potentially making dryness and irritation worse.

5. Give Extra Care to Lips and Hands

Use lip balm on dry or chapped lips and apply hand cream or body lotion after washing your hands or bathing to keep the skin soft and hydrated.

Experts advise consulting a doctor if persistent dryness is accompanied by severe itching, irritation or sores.
