Karachi: Martin Dow Marker Limited has denied manufacturing the disputed batches of Legzobrun, while the pharmaceutical companies concerned have also rejected claims that the specific batches were produced by them.
The Drug Testing Laboratory has forwarded its reports to the Secretary of the Quality Control Board Sindh, recommending legal action under the Drugs Act 1976 over the suspected counterfeit medicines.
The reports have also been sent to the Drug Inspector Karachi South for further action against the suspected fake medicines.
Authorities are now investigating how the disputed batches reached the market and identifying the sources involved in their supply and distribution. The presence of suspected counterfeit medicines in the market has raised concerns over potential risks to patients’ health, highlighting the need for stricter monitoring.
There are also calls for authorities to disclose details regarding the availability and distribution of the batches declared counterfeit, as well as the channels through which they entered the market.
