LAHORE: Dandot Cement Company Limited has finalised financing for a Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) plant, moving ahead with a project aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing reliance on fossil fuels at its production facility.
The company said it has established Letters of Credit with Sinoma Energy Conservation Limited for the supply, installation and commissioning of the plant. The development has also been disclosed to the Pakistan Stock Exchange as material information under the PSX Rule Book and the Securities Act, 2015.
The new system will capture waste heat generated from kiln and clinker cooler exhaust and convert it into steam and captive electricity.
By recovering energy that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere, the project is expected to lower fuel consumption, reduce emissions intensity and improve operating efficiency.
Dandot Cement said the investment forms part of its wider modernisation programme, which is focused on improving production efficiency and advancing the company’s environmental, social and governance goals.

Waste heat recovery technology is increasingly being used in energy-intensive industries such as cement manufacturing because it allows producers to generate part of their electricity needs from heat already produced during industrial operations.
For Dandot Cement, the project is intended to support both cost efficiency and environmental performance as the company upgrades its manufacturing operations.
Dandot Cement Company Limited, listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange under the symbol DNCC, was incorporated in 1980 and has been producing and marketing cement since 1983 from its plant at Dandot R.S. in Jhelum district.
