TIMERGARA: A dispute between sub-engineers of the Communication and Works (C&W) Department and government contractors in Lower Dir has been resolved through reconciliation, with both sides agreeing to end their protests and restore cordial working relations.

A reconciliation ceremony was held at the C&W Executive Engineer’s office in Timergara on Thursday, attended by departmental officials and contractors from across the district.

Following negotiations, C&W sub-engineers Fazal Rehman and Sulaiman and contractor Hameedullah & Brothers agreed to settle their differences.

The reconciliation efforts involved C&W Superintending Engineer Samad Khan, XEN Highways Saleh Dar Khan, XEN Buildings Riaz Wali Shah and SDO Sajjad Ali.

Contractors Association District President Sahibullah, Provincial Vice President Bahadar Zeb Khan, Provincial Coordinator Engineer Wajid Ali and District General Secretary Hazrat Shoaib also participated.

Addressing the gathering, former Central President of the Sub-Engineers Association Malik Bashir Ahmed and other speakers stressed the importance of cooperation between engineers and contractors for infrastructure development.

They appreciated both parties for resolving their differences through dialogue and accepting the mediation efforts of senior representatives.

The dispute had erupted after C&W engineers allegedly demolished part of an under-construction project over the reported use of substandard construction materials, triggering protests from both sides.

Following the settlement, both parties agreed to end the confrontation and resume normal professional relations.
