Islamabad, October 14, 2026: Citizens have expressed appreciation for the Capital Development Authority’s electric bus service as the civic body continues expanding modern, accessible and environment-friendly public transport across Islamabad.
According to a CDA statement, the electric bus network is providing commuters, students, employees and other residents with a more convenient and reliable way to travel across different parts of the federal capital.
The authority said public response to the service reflected growing demand for efficient and accessible transport options in Islamabad, particularly as the city seeks to improve mobility while reducing dependence on private vehicles.
CDA said the electric bus initiative is aimed at providing affordable, safe and comfortable transport while also supporting sustainable urban mobility and reducing vehicular emissions.
The network currently includes 160 electric buses operating on 21 routes, carrying around 150,000 passengers each day.

CDA plans to raise daily ridership to approximately 250,000 passengers by expanding route coverage and encouraging greater use of public transport.
The authority is also developing supporting infrastructure to improve operational efficiency and reliability.
A newly inaugurated electric bus depot has been designed to accommodate 64 charging units, providing additional support for the expanding electric bus fleet.
CDA said improvements in charging infrastructure, bus depots, route coverage and passenger convenience would remain key priorities as the network grows.
The authority added that electric mobility could play an important role in modernising Islamabad’s public transport system, reducing local emissions and providing residents with a practical alternative to private transport.
Citizen feedback will continue to be used to assess the convenience, accessibility and reliability of the service, according to the CDA.
The initiative is being pursued under the direction of Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and the leadership of CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf.
CDA said it remains committed to developing a cleaner, greener and better-connected transport system for the federal capital.
