ISLAMABAD, October 26, 2026: COMSATS Internet Services (CIS) and NERA Telecommunications (Pakistan) (Pvt.) Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaboration in advanced technology solutions, including artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, the Internet of Things (IoT) and embedded technologies.
The agreement, signed on October 23 at NERA’s country office in Islamabad, establishes a framework for identifying potential business opportunities and developing technology solutions for government departments, educational institutions and other sectors across Pakistan.
The MoU was signed by CIS Chief Operating Officer Nasir Jamal Khan and NERA Country Head Ziaad Aslam Khan in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
Under the agreement, CIS and NERA will explore cooperation in microwave equipment and services, cybersecurity systems, AI-powered solutions, IoT applications and embedded technologies.
The two organisations also intend to examine opportunities to provide technology solutions to the Pakistan Navy and other government sectors, including information technology and educational institutions in federal areas, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The collaboration aims to combine the technical expertise and infrastructure capabilities of both organisations to identify emerging business opportunities and address evolving technology requirements.
Headquartered in Singapore, NERA Telecommunications has been listed on the Singapore Exchange Mainboard since 1999. The company operates across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, providing integrated technology and telecommunications solutions.
CIS specialises in internet infrastructure, data centres and information technology services. Its portfolio includes Virtual Private Servers (VPS), domain registration, website hosting, server colocation and rack space services.
The organisation also undertakes internet-related research and development activities aimed at improving digital services and user experience.
According to the agreement, both parties will initiate discussions and negotiations to assess the feasibility of potential projects and identify areas where their combined capabilities could support technology deployment.
The MoU represents an initial framework for cooperation rather than a commitment to specific projects or contracts.
Officials from both organisations reaffirmed their intention to pursue mutually beneficial opportunities and explore technological collaboration across government and other relevant sectors in Pakistan.
