NEW YORK: Ambassador Zhang Jun, Permanent Representative of China and a top Chinese diplomat bid farewell to Ambassador Munir Akram at the Pakistan Mission in New York.
Ambassador Zhang has been a key player in the UN for the past five years, especially in Security Council negotiations.
A press release from the Pakistani mission said the two ambassadors discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and expressed satisfaction with the current level of engagement at the United Nations.
They promised to continue to play their role in further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Ambassador Akram commended Ambassador Zhang for his leadership and great service in strengthening Pakistan-China relations.
He said he had worked very closely with his Chinese counterpart on a number of bilateral and multilateral issues during his tenure.
Ambassador Akram expressed his wishes and prayers for the future of the outgoing Chinese ambassador. On his part, the Chinese envoy thanked Ambassador Akram and the Pakistani mission.
