5 Cars That Disappeared From Pakistan’s New-Car Market in 2026

Islamabad: Pakistan’s new-car market welcomed several fresh models in 2026, but the year also marked the end of the road for a number of familiar vehicles and variants.

Some completed their local production cycles. Others were replaced by newer generations, while one long-running Suzuki nameplate remained in the market after losing two of its variants.

The reasons differed, but the outcome was the same: these five familiar cars or versions were no longer part of Pakistan’s new-car market in 2026.

What Does “Discontinued” Mean Here?

Not every vehicle on this list disappeared as a nameplate.

The Kia Picanto and Honda BR-V ended their current local production runs. MG replaced the first-generation HS and ZS with newer generations. Suzuki, meanwhile, discontinued the Cultus VXR and AGS while keeping the VXL on sale.

So this is not simply a list of badges that vanished altogether.

Kia Picanto: Six Years and Then the End

The Kia Picanto arrived in Pakistan in 2019 with the difficult task of competing in a hatchback segment long dominated by Suzuki models such as the Cultus and Wagon R.

It offered buyers a different proposition, but after nearly six years of local assembly, its Pakistani run came to an end.

Lucky Motor Corporation discontinued the Picanto in August 2026. The hatchback was removed from Kia’s local model lineup and new bookings were permanently closed across the dealership network.

After almost six years in the market, the locally assembled Picanto was gone.

Honda BR-V: Seven-Seater Reaches the End of Its Run

The Honda BR-V’s exit was initially much quieter.

The seven-seater disappeared from Honda Atlas’ active model lineup, while discussion within the local automotive community suggested production had ended.

That was later confirmed. A senior Honda Atlas executive said in September that production of the BR-V had been discontinued after the vehicle completed its lifecycle, while the model was also removed from Honda’s official Pakistan website.

The BR-V first arrived locally in 2017 and occupied a distinct position in Honda’s lineup.

It was not intended as an alternative to the Civic. Instead, it offered families three-row seating in a relatively compact package, something the City and Civic could not provide.

Unlike the MG models further down this list, there is currently no confirmed next-generation BR-V waiting to replace it locally.

Honda’s Pakistan lineup continues with the City, Civic and HR-V, but no direct successor to the BR-V has been announced.

After roughly nine years in Pakistan, Honda’s locally produced seven-seater reached the end of its run.

First-Generation MG HS: Replaced, Not Abandoned

The MG HS technically disappeared in 2026, but the nameplate itself did not.

In March, production of the first-generation HS Trophy with the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine was stopped. Multiple authorised MG dealerships confirmed that local assembly had ended and orders were no longer being accepted for the variant.

The move did not signal an exit from the HS segment.

The second-generation MG HS arrived in Pakistan the following month, initially with two electrified powertrains: Hybrid+ HEV and Super Hybrid PHEV.

This was more than a cosmetic update. The new HS brought a redesigned platform, a new interior and electrified powertrain options.

Pakistan therefore did not lose the MG HS badge. It lost the first-generation model that had introduced many local buyers to the brand.

Same name, very different vehicle.

First-Generation MG ZS Makes Way for Successor

MG followed a similar strategy with the ZS.

A few months after replacing the HS, the company launched the second-generation MG ZS in Pakistan in July 2026.

The first-generation model had been part of MG’s local story since the brand’s early years in the country, but the replacement represented a full generational shift rather than a routine facelift.

The new ZS arrived longer and wider, with completely redesigned exterior and interior styling.

Its powertrain strategy also changed. MG introduced the model in three variants: the petrol-powered Vibe and two Hybrid+ versions, Excite and Essence.

The ZS name remains in the market. Only the generation changed.

That difference is likely to become increasingly important in the used-car market, where buyers searching for an MG ZS will encounter two substantially different generations carrying the same badge.

Suzuki Cultus VXR and AGS: Two Variants Exit

Suzuki did not discontinue the Cultus altogether in 2026.

Instead, Pak Suzuki stopped bookings for the VXR and AGS variants in September.

A dealership notification dated September 1 listed both as “Booking Discontinued,” leaving the VXL as the remaining Cultus variant available for new booking.

This means the Cultus itself survived, but much of the range did not.

The departure of the AGS variant is particularly notable because buyers looking for a new automatic Cultus no longer have that version available under the reported lineup.

Why These 2026 Exits Are Different

Taken together, these five departures tell very different stories.

The BR-V reached the end of its lifecycle without a confirmed direct replacement. The locally assembled Picanto concluded its six-year run, although a newer version could still potentially revive the badge.

MG took a different route, retiring older generations of the HS and ZS while immediately replacing both with newer products, with electrification playing a much larger role.

Suzuki did not end the Cultus at all, but reduced the lineup by discontinuing two variants.

That distinction matters.

A car disappearing because its entire local production run has ended is very different from an older generation being replaced by a newer one already sitting in showrooms.

For Pakistan’s used-car market, these vehicles also remain relevant. Picantos, BR-Vs, first-generation MG models and discontinued Cultus variants will continue to appear on local roads and in used-car listings for years.

Their showroom chapter may be over, but their ownership story is not.
