Two men, including Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, commander of the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense Forces (NBC), were killed by a suspected improvised explosive device in the Russian capital, according to Russia Today.
An explosion killed two men at the entrance to an apartment building in southeast Moscow, according to witnesses and law enforcement sources.
The press service of the Russian Investigative Committee confirmed the death, but did not provide any details regarding the possible cause of the incident that happened on Ryazansky Prospect.
Investigators are on the scene and doctors and bomb experts will be called in to assist with operations in the near future, the press release said. They are looking for the perpetrator, he added.
Several videos and photos purporting to show the scene of the incident show the bodies of two men lying on the pavement, covered in debris. Blood can be seen around one of the men.
In other shots, broken windows and damaged masonry can be seen on the apartment building.
