ISLAMABAD: Pakistan are expected to make several changes to the squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, with several senior players likely to return after being left out of the Asian Games squad.
According to media reports, Sahibzada Farhan, who captained Pakistan at the Asian Games, is likely to retain the captaincy for the Sri Lanka series.
However, the squad could see the return of several established names, including Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah and Fakhar Zaman.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Daniyal, Saad Masood, Haider Ali and Mohammad Wasim Jr. are reportedly likely to be left out of the squad.
The changes are expected to bring additional experience to Pakistan’s T20 setup ahead of the series.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play a three-match T20I series from October 9 to 13 in Rawalpindi.
Members of Pakistan’s squad are expected to report in Islamabad, while the Sri Lankan team arrived in the federal capital on Sunday night ahead of the series.
The series will also provide an opportunity for Pakistan to assess its combination and leadership options following the Asian Games campaign.
