QUETTA: Balochistan has taken a significant step towards industrial development with the launch of its first digital steel mill in Quetta, introducing automated steel production technology and creating new employment opportunities for local workers.
The modern steel manufacturing facility, located in the Eastern Bypass Industrial Zone, has begun producing Grade 60 steel reinforcement bars (rebar) in accordance with international standards.
Equipped with an automated production system, the mill has the capacity to manufacture 500 tonnes of steel reinforcement bars daily, strengthening the province’s local construction material supply.
The Eastern Bypass Industrial Zone is already home to various manufacturing industries producing approximately 300 different products, making it an important centre of industrial activity in Quetta.
New steel mill supports construction and employment
Steel mill CEO Aminullah said the establishment of the facility would benefit Balochistan’s expanding construction sector, where demand for steel and other building materials continues to grow.
He said the availability of locally manufactured steel products would support construction activities across the province.
The introduction of digital manufacturing technology also represents an advancement in Balochistan’s industrial capabilities, with automated systems supporting production at the facility.
The establishment of the steel unit has also created employment opportunities for unemployed young people, particularly in Quetta and surrounding areas.
The development is expected to support local industrial activity while providing the construction sector with an additional source of steel reinforcement products.
