Marvel Studios’ blockbuster superhero film Avengers: Endgame has once again surpassed Avatar at the global box office following its re-release, reclaiming the title of the highest-grossing film of all time.
The 2019 Marvel film has now earned approximately $2.925 billion worldwide, while James Cameron’s Avatar has a cumulative box-office gross of around $2.923 billion.
The recent re-release of Avengers: Endgame significantly boosted its worldwide earnings, allowing the film to regain the top position in the global box-office rankings.
The achievement marks another chapter in the long-running box-office rivalry between the two blockbuster franchises.
Avengers: Endgame previously held the record after its original theatrical run. However, Avatar eventually overtook the Marvel film following a re-release in 2021.
Now, nearly five years later, Avengers: Endgame has once again moved ahead of Avatar, reclaiming its position at the top of the global box office.
