Attock — Education authorities in Attock have imposed a Rs700,000 fine on a private school after a surprise inspection found it operating in violation of government orders during extreme heat-related closures.

The action was taken after complaints from parents prompted a visit by District Education Officer (Elementary Male) Syed Taqi Abbas to “The First Montessori and Grammar School” in Mirza Gaon, Attock. The inspection revealed that the institution was open despite official holidays announced for educational institutions due to severe weather conditions.

Students found sitting exams in extreme conditions

According to officials, students were found sitting examination papers in high heat and humidity inside the school premises. Authorities said the situation posed potential risks to student health and safety and was a clear violation of government instructions issued for weather-related closures.

Following the inspection report, the Chief Executive Officer of the Education Department, Dr Muhammad Azhar, issued a formal fine notice of Rs700,000 and initiated departmental proceedings against the school administration. The school has been directed to submit a written response within seven days.

Administrative review and enforcement directives

In a separate development, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Anil Saeed chaired a meeting in Attock reviewing the performance of the Para Force and market monitoring mechanisms.

Officials were instructed to ensure strict implementation of government policies, including monitoring of prices, prevention of hoarding, and enforcement of official rates. The administration reiterated that transparency and public relief remain key priorities.
