RAWALPINDI: Women and elderly members of a family were allegedly assaulted during a property dispute in the Wah Cantt area of Rawalpindi, while videos purportedly showing the incident have surfaced on social media.
According to reports, the incident took place during a dispute over the vacation of a house. The affected family alleged that several people entered the property and assaulted women, while police personnel were present at the scene.
Dispute Over House Rental
Police said the dispute involved an overseas family and a former government official over the vacation of a rented house.
According to the affected family, they had rented the property to a government official two years ago under a one-year agreement. They alleged that the tenant continued occupying the house after the agreement expired and had also stopped paying rent.
In a video statement, family head Safdar Ali alleged that the tenant entered the house with several people, assaulted women and damaged property. The family further alleged that they had not received adequate assistance from police.
Videos circulating in connection with the incident purportedly show police personnel entering the family’s residence alongside individuals involved in the dispute. The authenticity and full context of the footage could not be independently established from the available information.
Police Say Complaint Received
Police said the Wah Cantt police station has taken notice of the incident and received a complaint from the affected party.
According to police, both sides will be called in and the matter will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
