TEHRAN, October 26, 2026: Iran has confirmed that a four-nation meeting involving Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Iran was proposed by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during his recent visit to Tehran, with Iranian authorities accepting the initiative.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei disclosed the development during a press briefing on Monday, saying the proposal for joint talks had been presented by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces.
According to Baghaei, Tehran accepted the proposal and is hosting the quadrilateral meeting on October 26, bringing together senior officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye alongside Iranian representatives.
The Iranian spokesperson described the meeting as an important step towards developing regional security cooperation based on shared interests.
He said the discussions would address regional security matters, including what Iran describes as Israel’s expansionist policies and the US war against Iran.
Baghaei emphasised that lasting regional security could not be achieved without mutual trust and cooperation among countries in the region.
He said the four-nation meeting could pave the way for broader collaboration aimed at strengthening regional security and stability.
The spokesperson also stressed that regional stability must be pursued by taking into account the capabilities, preferences and security requirements of the countries concerned.
Commenting on other diplomatic developments, Baghaei disclosed that a Qatari delegation had visited Tehran on October 25 as part of ongoing discussions with regional countries and Qatar’s mediation efforts.
He said the visit formed part of a broader diplomatic framework involving regional engagement.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also commented on Israeli elections, saying their results held no significance for Tehran.
The quadrilateral meeting brings together Iran and the three countries identified in the report as members of the Makkah defence agreement, with discussions expected to focus on regional security cooperation.
