A debate has erupted on social media after television host Nadia Khan questioned young fashion designer Pareesha Adnan about her gym attire during a recent interview, prompting several Pakistani artists to publicly support the designer.
Pareesha Adnan had appeared on Nadia Khan’s programme after showcasing her collection at New York Fashion Week. During the interview, Nadia asked her about videos from the gym and whether her parents objected to the clothes she wore while exercising.
Pareesha responded that safety was certainly an important consideration. She also said she had received messages from both women and men who told her that watching her fitness videos had motivated them to begin exercising and strength training.

Following the interview, Pareesha addressed the discussion on social media, saying she understood the intention behind the question but tried to remain calm during the conversation.
She later shared photographs on Instagram accompanied by a caption repeating the phrase used by Nadia during the interview, which many users interpreted as a sarcastic response to the controversy.
Artists Show Support
Actor Yasir Hussain also appeared to support Pareesha, posting a sarcastic comment without directly naming Nadia Khan. His remarks referred to the absence of knowledge and a script, as well as pressure related to ratings.
Singer Yashal Shahid took a more humorous approach. She posted a video of herself exercising while wrapped in a blanket, appearing to mock the idea that women might need to cover themselves completely while working out to avoid criticism.

Pareesha’s Mother Defends Her
Pareesha’s mother, veteran designer Huma Adnan, also came to her daughter’s defence. She described the questions directed at Pareesha as unnecessary and expressed pride in her daughter’s achievements.
