BUDAPEST: Pakistan’s Olympic javelin throw champion Arshad Nadeem missed out on a medal at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest after failing to advance to the final rounds of the competition.
Nadeem was among eight athletes competing in the javelin throw final but could not produce a throw strong enough to remain in medal contention.
He recorded 74.42 metres with his first attempt and improved to 79.66 metres with his second. His third throw reached 81.49 metres, but he failed to qualify for the fourth attempt and was subsequently eliminated from the medal race.
Ramesh Pathirage wins javelin title
Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Pathirage won the javelin throw title with a final attempt of 91.09 metres, securing first place in the event.
Despite missing out on a medal, Nadeem remains one of Pakistan’s leading track and field athletes and the country’s Olympic javelin champion.
