Arid University Honors Retired Faculty and Employees for Years of Service

RAWALPINDI, July 10, 2026: Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) organized a farewell ceremony to honor its retired faculty members, administrative officers, and employees in recognition of their decades-long contributions to the institution.

The ceremony was attended by Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairperson Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan (HI, SI) as the chief guest, while PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman welcomed the distinguished guest and other participants, including university officials, deans, directors, heads of departments, faculty members, and administrative staff.

Among those honored were former Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Saif Ullah Khan, former Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Tariq Mukhtar, along with other faculty members and employees who completed their professional service at the university.

PHEC Chairperson highlights role of experienced professionals

Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan congratulated the retired employees and appreciated their dedication and contributions to the growth and development of PMAS-AAUR.

He said the success of an institution depends on the commitment of its people, adding that every employee plays an important role in strengthening an organization’s reputation and progress.

The PHEC chairperson said retirement should not be considered the end of an academic career, particularly in higher education, where the knowledge and experience of senior professionals continue to benefit society.

He suggested that universities should develop structured mechanisms to engage retired professors, researchers, and experienced administrators in mentoring young faculty members, guiding students, supporting research activities, and contributing to institutional planning.

Vice Chancellor pays tribute to retiring employees

Speaking on the occasion, PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman said retired employees remain an important part of the university’s legacy and will continue to be valued members of the PMAS-AAUR community.

He said the university’s achievements have been built through the dedication, professionalism, and efforts of faculty and staff members who contributed to teaching, research, administration, and community service over the years.

The vice chancellor said farewell ceremonies reflect the university’s appreciation for the loyalty, hard work, and commitment of retiring employees while acknowledging the legacy they leave for future generations.

Retirees share memories, receive recognition

During the event, retired faculty members, officers, and employees shared memories from their years of service and thanked the university administration for arranging a memorable farewell.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, commemorative shields were presented to the retiring employees in recognition of their valuable services and contributions to PMAS-AAUR.
