Pakistan’s young all-rounder Arafat Minhas produced a remarkable performance in the ODI against England in Rawalpindi, scoring a half-century and taking six wickets to help Pakistan secure an 87-run victory.
The 21-year-old left-arm spinner played a key role with both bat and ball. He scored a crucial half-century during Pakistan’s innings before dismantling England’s batting lineup with six wickets, including the important dismissal of Harry Brook.
Second Five-Wicket Haul in ODI Career
The performance marked the second time in Minhas’ ODI career that he has taken five or more wickets. It also earned him his second Player of the Match award in just his fifth ODI.
With the achievement, Minhas became only the third Pakistani player after Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq to score a half-century and take at least five wickets in the same ODI.
Abdul Razzaq had previously achieved the feat once, while Shahid Afridi accomplished it three times.
Minhas Earns Praise for All-Round Performance
Minhas also contributed with the bat through important partnerships, adding 78 runs with Hasan Nawaz and 72 with Faheem Ashraf.
Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi praised the youngster’s performance and described him as a complete all-rounder. England captain Harry Brook also acknowledged Minhas’ impact, calling him the standout performer of the match.
The performance further highlighted Minhas’ potential as Pakistan continues to develop its next generation of all-rounders.
