ISLAMABAD, October 25, 2026: Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is facing complaints from some early buyers who have reported cracks and display damage near the folding section of the device shortly after beginning to use it.

According to reports, several users have experienced problems with the phone’s inner folding screen, raising questions about the durability of the newly introduced device.

The complaints have emerged soon after sales began, although the number of affected devices remains unclear.

Australian buyer reports screen damage within hours

One of the reported incidents involves an Australian customer who claimed that the iPhone Duo’s internal display developed damage after approximately six hours of use.

The buyer said the device had been opened and closed fewer than 20 times before an unusual resistance was noticed while unfolding it.

According to the customer’s account, a cracking sound followed, and damage appeared along the screen’s folding line.

The user maintained that the phone had not been dropped and showed no visible signs of external damage before the incident.

The customer subsequently visited an Apple Store, where the device was reportedly replaced.

Similar complaints emerge from China

Reports of comparable display problems have also surfaced from China and other markets.

Images circulating online appear to show bright lines and cracks developing near the centre of the folding display.

The reported damage has raised concerns among some early buyers about the durability of the flexible screen, particularly around the area that experiences repeated folding and unfolding.

However, the available reports do not establish whether the incidents are connected or caused by the same underlying problem.

Apple has yet to explain reported failures

Apple has not released official findings explaining the cause of the reported screen damage.

It also remains unknown how many iPhone Duo units have been affected or whether the complaints indicate a broader manufacturing or design defect.

The reported incidents are based on individual customer experiences and images shared online, rather than a confirmed widespread technical failure.

Further information from Apple would be needed to determine whether the screen damage is limited to isolated devices or represents a more significant issue.

The complaints have nevertheless drawn attention to the durability of the iPhone Duo’s folding display as Apple’s first foldable smartphone reaches early customers.
