ISLAMABAD — The Associated Press of Pakistan and Allama Iqbal Open University have agreed to expand cooperation across multiple areas, with both institutions preparing to sign a formal memorandum of understanding.
The understanding was reached during a visit by APP Managing Director Sabeen Usman Khattak to Allama Iqbal Open University, where she met Vice-Chancellor Dr Nasir Mahmood.
Representatives from APP’s marketing and information technology departments also attended the meeting, which focused on possible collaboration between the national news agency and the university.
MoU to formalise future cooperation
During the meeting, Dr Nasir Mahmood briefed the APP delegation on the university’s departments, academic structure and institutional functions.
Sabeen Usman Khattak highlighted APP’s role in promoting Pakistan’s national narrative and disseminating news through multiple formats, including video services and digital platforms.
She said the agency provides news content in a range of national, regional and international languages.
Both sides agreed that an MoU would be signed in the near future to formalise cooperation and open the way for joint initiatives across relevant fields.
The proposed partnership is expected to strengthen institutional coordination between the country’s national news agency and one of Pakistan’s largest distance-learning universities.
