Senior Indian television and Bollywood actress Anita Kanwal has spoken openly about facing financial difficulties despite a decades-long career in the entertainment industry, saying she needs to continue working to remain financially independent.
The 72-year-old actress revealed in a YouTube interview that her savings could run out within the next year. She said she does not want to become financially dependent on her children and is looking for more acting opportunities.
‘I Need to Earn’
Kanwal said she may live for another 10 to 20 years and wants to have enough financial security for the future. She explained that her home is her main asset, while the limited savings she currently has may not last beyond a year.
The actress said the situation has made finding work increasingly important for her.
Wants to Remain Financially Independent
Kanwal said her children become upset when she worries about money and reassure her that she does not need to be concerned while they are around.
However, she said she has never wanted to reach a point where she would have to ask her children for money. Instead, she wants to remain financially independent and be in a position to support her children when needed.
She also said people should try to help others rather than always depend on others for financial support.
