Security forces eliminate 22 militants in intelligence-based operation

Operation conducted on confirmed presence of India-backed network, ISPR says

Rawalpindi: Pakistani security forces carried out a major intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Dera Ismail Khan district on 26 November after receiving confirmed reports about the presence of militants linked to the India-sponsored network, Fitna al Khwarij, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

Intense exchange of fire leads to militant deaths

According to ISPR, troops engaged the militants’ hideout with precision, triggering an intense exchange of fire. As a result, 22 militants were killed on the spot, the statement said, adding that all of them “were sent to hell.”

Area sanitization under way

Security forces have now launched a sanitization operation in the surrounding areas to ensure no remaining members of the network are present.

The IBO forms part of Pakistan’s ongoing, full-scale counterterrorism drive under the vision “Azm-e-Istehkam”, recently approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. ISPR said the campaign by security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue “at full pace” until all foreign-sponsored militant threats are eliminated.
